Last day for a April shower...great day to work in the barn.

The last day of April and it is raining, perfect day to work in the barn and make some mayapple bowls and plaques.  Close up of a Mayapple flower.

Roll out the clay, roll the leaf imprint into it....

...then shape it and put on the base.  Now wait for it to dry and then fire.

The Mayapples are waiting.....

These leaves are one of the best leaves for making bowls, plaques and wall pockets.  The female plant is a totally round leaf like this one.

The male plant has two half round leaves with a flower located in the fork of the stem.  Pretty cool wild flower.  My mother called them Umbrella Plants in her childhood and that's just what it looks like....

....a small patch of patio umbrella's for the little creatures of the woods.  Now I need to get the time to get to work in the shop......bowls and more bowls.

Spring and there are too many things to do....

We have 53 fuzzy little bodies to take care off now, and they are growing like weeds...not even a week old and they have wing feathers.

White leghorns and 5 Araucana chicks (South American) with blue green eggs.

Moved the kids trailer to the front of the house and away from the pond.

And I had to do a little artistic mosaic with the pathway to the trailer....grandkids will probably not even notice.
Now I have to get back to pottery..Mayapple leaves are waiting in the woods and they will not wait forever.  Back to the pottery.

Unclutter the jewelery...

Several years ago I decided to upcycle my jewelery storage...which was the top drawer and a tangled mess. I found a cutlery tray and a tie holder at a Thrift Store, sprayed them with silver paint and screwed them to the wall in the closet. Our belts are on a used shoe rack I think...same deal...spray painted. Little jars from candy decorations store all my posts and a piece of material hung stores the larger posts.

Now I also had a strange assortment of vintage, odd, and some just plain old pins and bracelets that I needed to find a home....a rehabed silverware box does the job. My total $$ spent was less than $5.00.

Thankful it fits in the closet and out of site.
