Etsy!

It might have taken me all day, but I have 6 lots of stoneware tiles on Etsy. That may not be an accomplishment for some, but for me (a not so literate computer person) that is a 10plus. I am a happy camper.

Old Windows..............

Mosaics and candle dishes.

2nd firing...end of the road for the tile.

Leaves, not tiles, glazed and fired 2 times waiting for strings and wire to hang, or whatever.
The kiln is ready and waiting for firing. Each tile is fired twice. First bisk firing and the 2nd a glaze firing.
These are leaf imprint tiles with a clear glaze and smaller tiles tiles in light blue and dark blue.

raw clay 1st & 2nd step

Technology is really good sometimes, but not so other times. Trying to load more pic's, but that seems to be too much of a job.
This is the 1st step of a tile. Roll flat the add, roll the leaves on and cut. And then dry flat for a week or so.
Once they are dry and cleaned up they ready for the 1st of 2 firings.

Kitchen Island

This is a kitchen island using leaf tiles and stoneware floor tiles. The leaves are glazed with a green glaze cone 9. Everything is always sealed to protect from stains and water.
If you like a very smooth surface than my tiles are not for you. High fired stoneware has a tendency to warp a little and not all tiles are exactly the same thickness.
This is our back splash behind the stove using my leaf tiles, my mosaic tiles and the hand rolled leaf tiles...the tiles are all high-fired stoneware cone 9. Very tough, durable and washable. The leaves are done with a clear glaze and the mosaic's are lt blue and dk blue.

Only 3 years later.

I had completely forgot that I had started this blog one snowy January day back in 2009. Now it is the tail end of 2011, no snow, but still 3 years later. I now have 14 going on 15 grandchildren, all the kids are married happily, and I am quickly approaching the age of retirement or just plain tired. I am going to try to make Windsong my retirement career, we'll see how that goes. I am located in "Not So Shabby" Antiques & Fine Furniture in Zeeland, MI, in our booth "Windsong Creations"along with my neice & sister-in-law from "Dibble Dabble". I am also going to try to sell some tiles on Etsy. (and I say try because I have to figure that out first too.) And we are going to try to keep up with most of our show schedule, with the first show being the Sunshine Community Arts & Craft Show at Sunshine Community Church located at 3300 E Beltline in GR. on March 10,2012. But, boy are those tubs getting heavier with each new year to lug from show to show....sometimes something crocheted looks easier and easier. Between Facebook and the blog I hope to be able to keep my schedule posted. Now we just need the economy to take a "right" turn and back on track.
